A Home for Food and Wine

A tunnel was dug to connect a classic country estate with a new separate culinary entertaining center featuring food and wine. Above ground is an “S” shaped glass wall and reflected in an excavation below is a wine cellar of the same shape. This forms a unique canvas for housing the finest wines of the old and new worlds. The underground tunnel features a wall of white wine to the left and a wall of red wine to the right. The climate control system separately ages and protects the valuable vintages ever so slightly: 55F (12.8C) for reds and 53F (11.7C) for whites. Reclaimed, age distressed redwood blends with course limestone to create this special retreat in the western United States. A fine, welcoming sculpture graces the entire space which houses nearly 5,000 bottles of wine.
